Frequently asked questions

Wondering how your bot gets its token without a .env file? Where to put your bot token answers that with working examples.

Is Discord bot hosting really free here?

Yes. Temalix Hosting is free of charge, there is no trial period and no credit card is required. Donations are welcome but entirely voluntary.

What do I need to upload to host a Discord bot?

A single Python file. Give the bot a name, upload your .py file, and the platform builds a container image for it automatically. No Dockerfile or server setup needed.

Which Python version and libraries are available?

Bots run on Python 3.13 (slim). discord.py with voice support, requests, python-dotenv, pillow, yt-dlp, BeautifulSoup, Flask, openai and about a dozen more are preinstalled, alongside the Python standard library. ffmpeg and libopus are installed too, so music and voice bots work. Additional packages cannot be declared per bot, but the upload tells you immediately if your script imports something that is missing — and those requests are collected, so popular packages get added.

What are the resource limits per bot?

Each bot gets 0.5 CPU cores and 200 MB RAM. An account can host up to 3 bots. A bot that exceeds its memory limit is stopped, and the dashboard says so instead of failing silently.

Does my Discord bot stay online 24/7?

That is the goal, and in normal operation it does: bots run continuously and containers restart automatically after a crash or a server reboot. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, though — maintenance, host restarts and capacity limits can interrupt a bot, and a bot that keeps crashing is stopped after three restart attempts so you can fix it and start it again.

Can I see my bot's console output and errors?

Yes. The dashboard shows the last 100 log lines, refreshed automatically, so you can debug without leaving the site.

Is my bot code private and is it isolated from other users?

Your uploaded code is not publicly accessible, and each bot runs in its own Docker container with a read-only filesystem, all Linux capabilities dropped and no privilege escalation.

Can I keep my bot token out of the uploaded file?

Yes. You can set environment variables per bot — paste the contents of your .env file when uploading, or use the key icon on the bot card later. Your script reads them with os.getenv("DISCORD_TOKEN"), and python-dotenv works unchanged, so a bot developed against a local .env file runs as it is. The values are never shown again, only their names.

How do I delete my bot or my account?

Both are self-service. Deleting a bot removes its container, image and uploaded file. Deleting your account in the settings removes the account, every bot and the stored change history. You can also download a copy of your data first.
